Synopsis:
When Imperial Minister Hua Yi Zheng speaks truth to power, the Emperor is enraged. In one foul swoop, the Emperor demotes Hua Yi Zheng and his sons, forfeits all the Hua family's assets, and exiles all the Hua menfolk to the barren lands of the North.
The ladies of the Hua family and their young are left destitute and rudderless. In the face of adversity, Hua Zhi, the eldest young lady of the Hua family, steps up as the head of the household. Using all of her considerable acumen to ensure that her family survive and thrive, Hua Zhi gives them hope for an eventual family reunion.
In doing so, Hua Zhi transforms the lives of the Hua family, as well as that of the mysterious Commander of the Security Bureau Gu Yan Xi. Love blossoms despite adversity, but will all of their hopes and dreams be dashed by events beyond their control and the capriciousness of an Emperor who has the Hua family in his crosshairs?

First thoughts
🐼: Really enjoying Blossoms in Adversity (2024)! The drama offers strong leads and a family that you will root for as they go through trials and tribulations after an undeserved fall from imperial grace. The ensemble cast also includes quite a few veteran actors who elevate this drama beyond the usual idol c-drama fare.
While the drama is not romance focused, the main pairing of Zhang Jing Yi's Hua Zhi and Hu Yi Tian's Gu Yan Xi are very easy on the eyes and they portray a commendably healthy romance💕
