Cliched but cute
Oh my Lord has a rather clichéd fake marriage-enemies-to-lovers plot, but as a dose of short and sweet fluffiness it certainly does the job. For a synopsis of the plot, see mine 👉here.
There are only 15 episodes and each episode is only 30 minutes long. In that time, you get to see a good looking pair fall in love and there are a few laugh out loud romcom moments as well (especially the one where the hero Bai Li has to model some plus sized ladies clothing😆).
The acting is nothing to write home about, though it isn't painfully bad so as to be off putting. Luo Zheng does a competent job as the aloof hero who melts into a puddle when he falls in love, and he is certainly handsome enough to carry off the role of the most handsome man in Fuxian City. His acting is somewhat stiff and self conscious though and he is less versatile than Ji Mei Han, who plays the cute and funny Chen You You with flair and in a manner reminiscent of Zhao Lu Si.
Of course there are more clichés than you can shake a stick at in this cheap and cheerful offering, but who's counting anyway? This is the type of drama that you watch in spite of or or because of the many clichés.
And there are some nice messages too - Chen You You is clearly able to see beyond the surface handsomeness of Bai Li and she leads the charge to help the citizens of Fuxian City to appreciate beauty other than that of the skin deep variety.
Any update for a season 2?
ReplyDeleteNot that I know of, as yet! But I will definitely keep a look out for it - cute fluffiness is always fun :)
