Synopsis:

A'Mai is a young woman disguised as a man, in a man's world. She lives for one purpose - to hunt down Chen Qi, the childhood friend whom she thought of as an elder brother and who killed her entire family when she was a child.  

In the course of her investigations, A'Mai meets Shang Yi Zhi, the happy-go-lucky son of the Grand Princess (the Emperor's sister). The Emperor repeatedly tries to assassinate his "nephew" Shang Yi Zhi, but A'Mai rescues him on more than one occasion, and the two form a close bond.

When war breaks out with Bei MoShang Yi Zhi become a general and A'Mai joins the army as a foot soldier, alongside her sworn brother Tang Shao Yi. On the battlefield, A'Mai meets and clashes with Bei Mo General Chang Yu Qing, and due  
to her military talent, A'Mai swiftly rises in the ranks to become General Mai, the army's "little god of war".   

But when a palace coup overturns the status quo, both Shang Yi Zhi and A'Mai are swept up in events beyond their control...

First thoughts:

🐼: Despite the tacky English title, I started watching this because I loved Zhang Tian Ai's powerful badass role in Sword Snow Stride (2021) and also because Zhang Hao Wei was so much fun in The Trust (2023).  Besides, I haven't seen Wang Rui Chang in a substantial role since In a Class of Her Own (2020) and I miss seeing his snarky sarcasm on my screen.    

Several episodes in, I am not sure the comic vibe sits well with the subject matter, but I am entertained enough to keep watching, so here goes...
