Episode 10 recap

In which there is tension in dorm 2 and our heroine has to explain some casting choices in her novel 

At the bookstore, Feng Cheng Jun makes it very clear to Miss Han that he is not interested. (🐼:Good on him, I reckon, that lady doesn’t need even a smidgen of false hope). She's devastated. (🐼: But I’m baffled if she’s surprised, because he has never ever given her any reason to hope). 

Anyway, Yu Le Xuan tries to drum up more business by convincing Miss Han that she now has valuable information about what Feng Cheng Jun is looking for in a lady (and advocates she take a targeted approach, with his assistance, for a suitable fee of course). (🐼: Ha!) But Xue Wen Xi feels too guilty and explains in great detail to Miss Han that her love is unrequited and won’t take her money. That scuppers Yu Le Xuan’s money making scheme, much to his rueful amusement. 

Meanwhile Feng Cheng Jun is (🐼:understandably) upset at Xue Wen Xi for the whole love letter fiasco. 

Xue Wen Xi asks Yu Le Xuan to find her odd jobs that do not involve dubious moral situations. He helps out (“only because I like you a lot”) and finds her some copying jobs with Mr Chao at the bookstore. Stacks and stacks of the stuff. But at least it’s all on the straight and narrow and Yu Le Xuan makes sure that Mr Chao doesn’t get any cut from Xue Wen Xi’s commission. Yu Le Xuan also promises to help Lei Ze Xin find the two mysterious people on the note - "Ke Shi Juan" and "Qin Bei Chuan". 

The temperature between the roommates in Dorm 2 is decidedly arctic - Feng Cheng Jun spends his days writing calligraphy in the library and his nights avoiding the dorm and writing more calligraphy. Xue Wen Xi still feels guilty but is also annoyed at the silent treatment. 

Lei Ze Xin, on the other hand, is way too gleeful about the fight between the other two (🐼:haha!):

Yu Le Xuan tells Lei Ze Xin that he has been unable to trace the two mysterious men on that note. After becoming fugitives, their trail runs cold. Yu Le Xuan and Lei Ze Xin speculate that because the two were past students of Yuanshang Academy, there must be some old school records. 

They come up with the brilliant (🐼: if implausible) cover for searching the records at “Diligence Pavilion” - they want to volunteer to clean that room. (🐼:Haha - how gullible are the teachers if they believe that whooper?)

Meanwhile, Feng Cheng Jun and Xue Wen Xi are walking to the bookstore together - she asks him if he’s still angry. He replies rather cryptically - “what do you think?”

But when they get to the bookstore, it’s revealed that all of Feng Cheng Jun’s late night calligraphy was done for her - he finished all her copying jobs. (🐼: Awww that’s sweet). He says it’s not his family money, but from his own labour, so “Little Brother Bin” can’t say it’s charity.

She’s touched. Says he can’t lie to her ever again. When he asks if the same applies both ways, she says nope, it’s a one way street (🐼:hahaha!😆)

Back in dorm room 2 Feng Cheng Jun and Lei Ze Xin have clearly done a little reading. Volumes 3 and 4 of “Where Love Begins” to be exact. Lei Ze Xin asks why his catch phrase is in the book.  And more importantly, why does he lose his love interest in vol 4 to that other so and so?  Feng Cheng Jun is also unhappy that he has previously featured as a nasty informant with a mole on his face - "I hope there's a logical explanation for this". Lei Ze Xin also tells Xue Wen Xi that she has sabotaged his image and has to clear his name in the next volume. 😅

Thoughts

🐼: This episode is touching (we get to see the strong friendship between Xue Wen Xi and Feng Cheng Jun, and Lei Ze Xin and Yu Le Xuan).  It's also hilarious, especially because the boys are so so concerned about their respective roles in Xue Wen Xi's novel.  I hope there's more boy bickering ahead! 😆
